A virtual, global forest

The process of recording in a residential neighborhood was a blast, with a number of people asking what I was doing, several of whom stayed to listen for a few minutes when I offered them my headphones. Heartwarming moments of connection. As I listened back to the recordings I realized that the story I was capturing was different than the one I thought I would. The anthropogenic noise captured by the contact mics adds context and a textural depth that I quite enjoy, much to my surprise. Listening to the recordings on arboreus.earth took me on a similar journey, each tree and each story transporting, surprising, and delightful. David Stanford, USA
