Recorded by Peter Simon at Moelan sur Mer, Bretagne, France, August 2022. The recording was made on a sunny day in summer. Parallel to the recordings with the sensor, an ORTF microphone recording was made of the location. Both recordings are mixed together. The sensor is housed in a dead rootstock of the tree, the microphones were about one metre away from it.A Redwood tree stump that is slowly rotting. Sequoia trees are not native to Europe. These trees were imported and planted in the 19th Century. On the one hand to obtain the wood, on the other hand for decorative reasons. They are a rarity in Brittany. However, they blend in very well with the landscape. The forests in this part of Brittany consist mainly of oaks, chestnuts and ash trees.
